Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Checklist
The PDI is your walkthrough with the builder before closing. Everything you note becomes the baseline record for warranty claims.
What to bring
Bring a phone for photos, painter's tape to mark marks and scratches, a copy of your finish selections, and a notebook.
What to check
Go room by room.
- Walls and ceilings for cracks, nail pops and paint
- Floors, tile and trim for chips and gaps
- Windows and doors open, close and lock properly
- Cabinets, counters and fixtures match your selections
- Taps, toilets and drains work
- Furnace, water heater and electrical panel labelled
- Exterior grading, brick, siding and driveway
After the PDI
Make sure every item is recorded on the PDI form before you sign it. Keep a copy for warranty submissions.
